on the October 1, 2019 Grand List, is due and payable July 1, 2020
You have until October 1, 2020 to pay your Real Estate, Personal Property and Motor Vehicle Tax on time.

COVID-19 PROPERTY TAX RELIEF PROGRAM FOR THE TOWN OF THOMPSON
On April 14, 2020 the Town of Thompson adopted a Tax Deferment Program for all Thompson Taxpayers.
Executive Order 7S issued by Governor Lamont on April 1, 2020 provided relief for taxpayers through a
local option tax deferral program. The effect of this program is the equivalent of an extended grace period.
The last day to pay the July 1, 2020 tax installment is extended from August 1, 2020 to October 1, 2020.
Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, there will be strict enforcement of the following:
If you choose to pay in person, all taxpayers shall enter at the Back Door, 2nd Floor Level.
No Tax customer will be allowed entrance to the Town Hall from the Lower level.
Limited capacity protocol and social distance guideline will be in place including face mask for customers
TAX OFFICE HOURS:
9:00 A.M. TO 4:00 P.M. Monday thru Thursday
9:00 A.M. TO 2:00 P.M. Friday
* Tax Bills were mailed on June 30, 2020.
* Interest will be charged beginning October 2, 2020 at the Rate of 1.50% per month retroactive to July 1, 2020.
( 18.00 % per annum ), according to the CGS 12-146.
* Mail must be postmarked October 1, 2020 or earlier to be considered paid on time.
* Minimum Interest is $2.00.
*The second half Real Estate and Personal Property Tax will be due in January, 2021. No bill will be sent.
* Please make payments by check or money order payable to The Town of Thompson.

At the Thompson Tax Collector's Office, our vision is to exceed your expectations by providing all of our customers with a knowledgeable, professional, and courteous staff. We pledge to assist you with the collection of your real estate, motor vehicle, and personal property taxes, as well as the collection of sewer use taxes, transfer station permits, and building permit fees. We will provide you with answers to any questions you may have, or seek the information for you in a timely fashion. We will provide you with these services in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. All information will be handled with the utmost confidentiality. Our dedicated professional staff works in an environment that promotes growth and fulfillment.
What We Do
The Tax Collectors Office collects Real Estate, Personal Property, Motor Vehicle and Supplemental Motor Vehicle taxes. The Tax Office contracts with the Thompson Water Pollution Control Authority to collect their sewer usage fees. We also collect the fees for, and issue, the Annual Transfer Station Permits. We provide information to attorneys on Title Searches for real estate closings and refinancing arrangements. We work closely with the five Volunteer Fire Departments to produce and approve the annual Abatement Program for EMT and Fire-Rescue personnel.
