Board of Finance

What We Do

The Board of Finance prepares the annual budget per state statute. Their budget recommendation is presented to the residents at the Annual Town Meeting. Upon approval of the budget at a referendum, the Board of Finance sets the mill rate.

The Board of Finance is also responsible for providing an annual independent audit of the books and accounts of the Town. The Board of Finance also considers all requests for special appropriations, additional capital projects, and budget transfers during the year.  The Board of Finance provides oversight and guidance in all financial affairs of the Town.

This board is required to act in the best financial interest of the Town’s taxpayers and follows the Connecticut General Statutes.

Members are elected for a 6-year term.
