Thompson Voting District I randomly Selected in the Secretary of State's election audit lottery.

FROM THE CONNECTICUT OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY OF THE STATE: 2023 MUNICIPAL GENERAL ELECTION RESULTS TO BE AUDITED AT 39 SELECTED VOTING PRECINCTS (including KILLINGLY District 5 at the Board of Education Central Office Cafeteria, THOMPSON District 1 at the Thompson Public Library/Community Center, PUTNAM District 2 at the Town Hall Municipal Complex, and POMFRET District 1 at the Pomfret Community School)

Secretary of the State Stephanie Thomas randomly selected 39 precincts from the November 7, 2023 municipal general election to have their machine totals audited. There were also 15 alternates chosen in case the selected precincts cannot be audited for any reason.

State law requires that five percent of all voting precincts, including central-count locations for absentee ballots, have their machine totals audited following any election or primary. There were 768 precincts used during the November 7, 2023, municipal general election. In each municipality where there is an audit, the town clerk conducts a random drawing to select the offices on the ballot that will be subject to the audit.

Upon completion, the University of Connecticut and the Secretary of the State’s Office will analyze audit results, after which they will be made available to the public.

On Wednesday, November 22, 2023 at 12 noon the Town Clerk will conduct the lottery to select the offices to be audited.  Lottery to be conducted in the clerk's office, Town Hall.  For more information regarding the audit call the Registrars office at 860-923-9636.
