Notice of Special Town Meeting (Legal Notice revision)

The revised Legal Notice of Special Town Meeting shall be read to include: To consider, discuss and act upon an appropriation in the amount of $12,000,000 for various capital repairs and improvements to Town property, facilities, roads and equipment, including, but not limited to, acquisition of a roadside mower, snowblower, trailer, roller, chipper, groundskeeping tractor, primex clocks, replacement of Riverside Park lights, library heat pumps and access controls, upgrades to camera and alarm systems, and improvements to Town Hall parking lot / MS4 Retrofit, lockers, repairs and improvements to Town roads, and other municipal property repairs; an authorization to issue bonds or notes and temporary notes in an amount not to exceed $12,000,000 to finance the appropriation; to provide that the total amount of bonds issued shall be reduced by the amount of grants or other funds received and not separately appropriated for the project; to authorize the First Selectman and the Treasurer of the Town to determine the amounts, dates, interest rates, maturities, redemption provisions, form and other details of the bonds or notes; and to perform all other acts which are necessary or appropriate to issue the bonds or notes."
By issuing bonds for capital improvement projects, the Town will be able to spread the cost of these items over multiple years, thereby reducing the proposed FY 2026-27 mill rate while addressing pressing capital needs directly impacting residents.
