2024 Important Voting Dates

JANUARY 2 (Tuesday) Party Transfer. Last day for an elector to transfer from one party to another and be eligible to vote in the Presidential Preference Primary of the new party.

MARCH 25, 2024 (Monday) 12:00 noon. Deadline for unaffiliated voters who seek to vote during the early voting period before the Presidential Preference Primary to file a party enrollment application with the registrars of voters. Persons who are not registered voters must file their voter registration application with the registrars by 12:00 noon on the business day before the day they want to vote during the early voting period.

MARCH 26, 27, 28, and 30 (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday): Early voting for the Presidential Preference Primary. Voting hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Thompson Town Hall.

APRIL 1 (Monday) 12:00 noon. Deadline for enrolling in the Democratic or Republican Party for voting in the Presidential Preference Primary on April 2.

APRIL 2 (Tuesday) Presidential Preference Primary. Voting hours 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Thompson Public Library Community Center, the Thompson Town Hall, the Quinebaug fire station, and the East Thompson Fire Station. Voters must be enrolled in a political party if they want to vote in the party’s primary.

MAY 6 (Monday) Annual Budget Meeting, 7:00 p.m. in the Thompson Public Library Community Center.

MAY 17 (Friday): 12:00 noon. Deadline for new voters to register in person, online or by mail for eligibility to vote in the budget referendum.

MAY 20 (Monday) Budget Referendum. Voting hours 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. in the Thompson Public Library Community Center, the Thompson Town Hall, the Quinebaug fire station, and the East Thompson fire station. Persons who are not registered voters are eligible to vote in the Thompson Town Hall if they are United States citizens, age 18 or over, and are liable for tax on property located in Thompson and assessed at $1,000.00 or more, as recorded in the most recent grand list.

AUGUST 2 (Friday). 12:00 noon. Deadline for unaffiliated voters who seek to vote during the early voting period before the Primary for State, District, and Municipal Offices to file a party enrollment application with the registrars of voters. Persons who are not registered must file their voter registration application with the registrars by noon on the business day before the day they want to vote during the early voting period.

AUGUST 5 to August 11 (Monday – Sunday) Early Voting in the Primary for State, District, and Municipal Offices. Voting hours 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with extended voting hours 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on August 6 and August 8. The early voting location is the Thompson Town Hall. Voters must be enrolled in a political party if they want to vote in the party’s primary.

AUGUST 13 (Tuesday): Primary for State, District, and Municipal Offices Voting hours 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Thompson Public Library Community Center, the Thompson Town Hall, the Quinebaug fire station, and the East Thompson Fire Station. Voters must be enrolled in a political party if they want to vote in the party’s primary.

OCTOBER 18, 2024 (Friday): Voter Registration Session for the Presidential Election. Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Town Hall. All mail-in or online voter registration applications must be received or post-marked by this date. Connecticut also has same day registration in person at the Town Hall on Election Day.

OCTOBER 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, and November 1, 2, and 3 (Monday through the next Monday): Early Voting Period for the Presidential Election. Voting hours 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., except the early voting hours are 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on October 29 and 31. The polling location is the Thompson Town Hall. Individuals may register in person and vote the same day during the early voting period if they are a U. S. citizen, age 18 or older, and a resident of the Town of Thompson.

NOVEMBER 4 (Monday): Registration Session to admit those seeking to vote in the Presidential Election whose qualification as to age, citizenship or residence was attained since October 27th. Hours: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thompson Town Hall.

NOVEMBER 5 (Tuesday): Presidential Election Day. Voting hours 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Thompson Public Library / Community Center, the Thompson Town Hall, the Quinebaug fire station, and the East Thompson fire station. Connecticut has same day registration in person at the Town Hall on Election Day.

Curbside Voting: If you are disabled or have difficulty walking, you may vote in your vehicle at your regular polling place. Call the Registrars at 860-923-9636 to have your ballot delivered to your car.
