Train Wreck Park Presentation Recap

 

     The National Park Service Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance Program, the Town of Thompson recently hosted a public presentation of design options for “Train Wreck Park,” an interpretive site telling the story of the Great East Thompson Train Wreck

     Located on the Air Line State Park Trail, the site of the wreck has been a popular destination for annual guided walks by members of Thompson Historical Society. Since January of 2020, NPS RTCA partners have been working with the Historical Society, Thompson Trails and the Office of Planning & Development to brainstorm design ideas.
