Thompson Receives Grant Funds From The Last Green Valley

The Last Green Valley

The Last Green Valley has recently awarded two grants to The Town of Thompson. The first award was made to the Thompson Trails Committee for $3000 to support “Traveling Through Thompson.” The funding will provide support to the Town of Thompson for the design of a comprehensive system of signs and markers to help improve access to Thompson’s many trails, historic sites, and other prominent locations.

An additional grant for $2500 has been awarded to support Thompson’s Garden by the River, a community garden located at 65 Main Street. The site is currently scheduled for cleanup by volunteers on September 28th, from 9 AM to 1 PM in preparation for raised garden beds to be installed. A public event to dedicate and promote the garden will take place on October 19th noon- 4 PM. During this event, participants can view the work done to the site thus far, sign up to garden for the inaugural spring 2020 season, hear about future plans for the property, shop at the one-day Farmers’ Market, and listen to live music from Randy Manyak. Prior to October 19, information will be available and sign-ups will also take place at Community Day on October 5.

These two generous grants from The Last Green Valley will help move forward with two exciting new projects to fulfill the spirit of the recent “Green and Growing Community” Branding initiative and revitalize the downtown.
