Thompson Board/Commission/Committee Member Openings (Updated)!

Are you interested in volunteering for your municipal government? As of now, there are currently multiple positions open on the various boards, commissions, and committees that serve the Town of Thompson. If you are interested in conservation, economic development, wetland preservation, town ordinances, recreation, or waste disposal, be sure to check out any of the vacancies listed below! Conservation Commission: 1 member vacancy 

The mission of the Conservation Commission is to conserve and keep inventory of Thompson’s natural and historical resources and advise the Board of Selectmen and other municipal agencies on conservation matters. The Commission advocates for the wise usage of natural resources and the upholding of the historical establishments of Thompson. 

Members are appointed for 5 year terms

 

Economical Development Committee: 1 alternate

The Thompson Economic Development Commission is dedicated to further growth and development of the town by attracting, retaining, and assisting businesses, while also preserving the integrity of the town’s rich heritage.

Members are appointed for 2 year terms

 

EDC Branding Strategy Implementation Committee: member vacancies

The focus of the committee is to attract new residents, stimulate business development new and existing of all sizes and develop the town as a tourist destination through developing a branding strategy to fulfil these roles.

 

Inland Wetlands Commission: 3 vacancies 

The Town of Thompson Inland Wetlands Commission regulates all operations and uses within inland wetlands and watercourses. 

Members are appointed for 5 year terms. 

 

Ordinance Review Committee: 1 member vacancy

 The Committee’s charge is to review all Town Ordinances to update active Ordinances & archive out-of-date Ordinances to make the Ordinance Book more user friendly to the public. The Committee also recommends new Ordinances & modifications to existing Ordinances. 

Members are appointed indefinitely 

 

Recreation Commission: 1 member vacancy

The Recreation Commission’s purpose is to enhance, promote and support quality recreational facilities and opportunities for all residents of the community.

Members are appointed to serve 3 year terms

 

Transfer Station Advisory: 1 member vacancy

The Thompson Transfer Station Advisory Committee is a committee of volunteer residents formed to improve the waste disposal system for the town of Thompson which will be cost effective, equitable for users of the Transfer Station and environmentally sound. 

Members are appointed for a 2 year term

Any applicants are required to be Thompson residents and at least 18 years of age.
