POSTPONED-NATCHAUG EPIC 2.0 CYCLOCROSS RACE NEEDS VOLUNTEERS!

The Natchaug Epic is a Cycloross race that started in March 2019. The race is over 100 kilometers and goes straight through The Last Green Valley. This year’s race will be held on March 29th, and we need volunteers for this exciting event. To get involved email planner@thompsonct.org. Volunteers are needed in the following locations and times:

Registration: We need three volunteers to help register racers, with support from race staff. 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Venue Prep: We need multiple volunteers to help set up the starting location, with directions from race staff. 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Flaggers: We need volunteers in two different locations.

We need one flagger along Quadick Town Farm Road, south of the intersection of Baker Road and Wakefield Pond Road. Riders will begin arriving en masse between 9:00 a.m. and 9:45 a.m.

We need another flagger where riders will be coming off of Dutton Road and on to East Thompson Road. The riders will be going fast and we need a volunteer to keep the riders safe.

Drivers: We need three drivers for three different groups. One will be responsible for placing and picking up signage; all in the same day (bringing a partner is suggested). Another will be responsible for transporting a photographer and videographer. The last will be the Support and Gear driver, and will follow the race and pick up any riders who are unable to finish the race.

Greeters: We need greeters at the end of the race who will help direct the racers inside and take their bikes.

Cleaners: We would like some volunteers to be able to spray down bikes quickly.

Rest Stop: Finally, we would like some volunteers to help support the catering team. This job is hectic, and requires getting the supplies in vans for a 9:00 a.m. departure, and then setting up the supplies, before finally serving the riders. Then you will need to help clean up and transport the supplies back.
